About the Role
As an HGV Class 2 Drainage Tanker Driver, you will operate specialist drainage tanker vehicles and support the safe collection, movement, and disposal of liquid waste and drainage materials.
This is more than a standard driving role. You will be operating specialist equipment, representing the company on client sites, completing compliance documentation, and helping deliver essential drainage services across commercial and domestic environments.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Driving and operating HGV drainage tanker vehicles safely and professionally.
- Operating tanker vehicles ranging from 18–32 tonnes, depending on your experience and the work assigned.
- Working with specialist vehicles and equipment such as Gully Suckers, CitiFlex units, excavation tankers, recyclers, and related drainage tanker equipment.
- Completing liquid waste collections, drainage support works, tanker movements, and site-based pumping operations.
- Loading and unloading using appropriate pumping, vacuum, and tanker equipment.
- Following planned routes, schedules, and site instructions efficiently.
- Carrying out pre-use and post-use vehicle checks.
- Identifying and reporting vehicle defects, equipment faults, safety risks, or maintenance requirements.
- Completing accurate paperwork, including job sheets, vehicle logs, waste transfer notes, manifests, and delivery or collection records.
- Following all road traffic, environmental, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Maintaining a professional standard of driving, site conduct, and customer communication.
- Supporting routine cleaning and basic care of vehicles and associated equipment.
- Working safely around drainage systems, liquid waste, confined spaces, traffic, pedestrians, and client premises.

Essential Experience and Qualifications
You will need:
- Valid HGV Class 2 / Category C licence.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant HGV driving experience.
- Driver CPC qualification and digital tachograph card.
- Experience driving commercial vehicles in a professional environment.
- A driving record suitable for commercial insurance purposes.
- Confidence operating manual transmission vehicles.
- Good understanding of daily vehicle checks, defect reporting, and road safety.
- Strong awareness of health and safety in operational environments.
- Ability to complete accurate job paperwork and compliance records.
- Good communication skills with colleagues, supervisors, clients, and site teams.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work.
- Right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable Experience
The following would be beneficial but are not essential:
- Previous experience as a drainage tanker driver, vacuum tanker driver, gully sucker operator, waste management driver, or pump and tanker operative.
- Experience with DAF, MAN, Scania, Volvo, or similar HGV vehicles.
- Experience using tanker pumping and vacuum equipment.
- Knowledge of waste transfer procedures and environmental compliance.
- Experience in drainage, utilities, construction, highways, facilities management, or industrial services.
- Confined Space training.
- High-Pressure Water Jetting certificate.
- ADR or other transport-related qualifications, where relevant.
- HIAB or low-loader experience.
- Forklift or plant experience.
