Position: Apprentice Installation Engineer
Location: West Yorkshire but on-site nationwide
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 07:00am to 15:30pm - overtime and weekend work available
Pay Scale: From £8 per hour

CWL Engineering Ltd. is an engineering and installation business based in Wakefield, focusing on the design and installation of LEV extraction systems and various forms of steelwork. We are a small business with a positive can-do attitude that is excited at the opportunity to bring in a young and willing person to pass down our skill and experience to!
Due to increased demand we are looking to recruit an apprentice installation engineer to be on site completing installation projects alongside our current installation team.
The Role:
The installation engineer job role consists of attending site to complete the mechanical installation of a project. This will be in the LEV industry installing commercial extraction filters, and corresponding fan-sets, ducting and structural steelwork. The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced fitting teams at all times, and will be taught the below skills;
- Reading/working from an engineering drawing.
- Competent in the use of hand/power tools.
- Structural loading and bracketry of mechanical pipework.
- Structural steel erecting.
- Competent and safe lifting, slinging and loading.
- Understanding of safe working practices in line with CDM Site Regulations.
The successful applicant will be currently studying a relevant subject or looking to enrol on a "Level 2 Engineering Operative" apprenticeship programme, this will be arranged by CWL Engineering on your behalf. The programme has a recommended duration of 12-18 months, and will be integrated in to your weekly working hours.
CWL Engineering completes projects nationwide, and there will be a requirement for national travel and occasional overnight stays.
Due to the nature of our business, and the sites we work on, it is a requirement that you be 18 or older.

Apprenticeship Summary:
The apprenticeship will cover the below knowledge and skills, which will be reinforced during your time on the job with CWL Engineering;
Core knowledge: An engineering operative will understand:
- How to obtain the necessary job instructions, engineering drawings and specifications and how to interpret them
- Relevant statutory, quality, environmental compliance procedures/systems, organisational and health and safety regulations relating to engineering operations
- Their individual roles and responsibilities within the organisation and the flexibility required to support the achievement of company targets
- Engineering operational practices, processes and procedures
- Potential problems that can occur within the engineering operations and how they can be avoided
Core skills: An engineering operative will be able to:
- Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety legislation, regulations, environmental compliance procedures and systems and other relevant guidelines
- Identify and deal appropriately with any risks, hazards, hazardous situations and problems that may occur within the engineering environment within the limits of their responsibility
- Demonstrate effective communication skills which include oral, written, electronic
- Complete appropriate documentation accurately, efficiently and legibly using the correct terminology where required
- Obtain and follow the correct documentation, specifications and work instructions in accordance with time constraints and the roles and responsibilities identified for the engineering activities, extracting the necessary data/information from specification and related documentation
- Select and use appropriate tools, equipment and materials to carry out the engineering operation
- Deal appropriately with any problems that may occur within the manufacturing environment within the limits of their responsibility
- Work efficiently and effectively at all times maintaining workplace organisation and minimising waste
