CCTV Operator / Security Officer - SIA Licensed
We are currently recruiting a professional, reliable and experienced CCTV Operator / Security Officer to join our security team within an educational environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff, visitors and contractors. This role requires a professional approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to incidents.
A valid SIA CCTV Operator Licence is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor CCTV systems and identify, investigate and report suspicious or unusual activity.
- Maintain a professional and visible security presence across the site.
- Conduct regular internal and external security patrols.
- Monitor access and egress and ensure site access control procedures are followed.
- Assist in preventing and deterring trespassing, vandalism, theft and antisocial behaviour.
- Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, emergencies and alarms.
- Produce accurate incident reports, daily occurrence records and other required documentation.
- Apply appropriate conflict management and de-escalation techniques when dealing with challenging situations.
- Maintain safeguarding awareness at all times when working within the educational environment.
- Provide professional customer service and assistance to students, staff, visitors and contractors.
- Liaise with school staff, management, emergency services and other relevant parties when required.
- Follow all site-specific security procedures, assignment instructions and company policies.
- Comply with health & safety requirements and report hazards or concerns promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling CCTV footage, security information and sensitive incidents.
- Remain alert and observant throughout the shift and escalate concerns through the appropriate channels.
Essential Requirements
- Valid SIA CCTV Operator Licence.
- Previous security and/or CCTV monitoring experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional and presentable manner.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to write clear and accurate incident reports.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and decisive under pressure.
- Understanding of conflict management and de-escalation.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures and site protocols.
- Ability to work professionally within an educational environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a school, college, university or other educational setting.
- Experience with access control and CCTV monitoring systems.
- Safeguarding awareness or previous safeguarding training.
- Emergency response and incident management experience.
