SEND Teaching Assistant
Chalk Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist provision in Leicestershire for a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
About the Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
The school offers a welcoming and well-resourced environment, along with excellent SEND training, including strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviours. With strong transport links and convenient local amenities, it provides an accessible and supportive setting for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Encourage independence and positive engagement in lessons
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Commitment to safeguarding
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and flexible attitude
