We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to manage the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance across all mechanical and electrical systems, plant, equipment, buildings, and estate fabric.
The successful candidate will ensure maintenance services are delivered in line with output specifications, contractual requirements, and operational needs.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced technical professional with a strong background in estates, facilities management, engineering, or building services.
This role will lead a multi-skilled maintenance team, provide technical advice to stakeholders, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation while managing budgets and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all mechanical and electrical systems, plant, equipment, buildings, and estate fabric.
Lead and manage a multi-skilled maintenance team including Estates Technicians, Tradespeople, Maintenance Assistants, and Gardeners.
Ensure maintenance services are delivered in accordance with output specifications and contractual requirements.
Participate in Hard FM Operational Review Meetings and provide technical support to operational stakeholders.
Assist and advise Service Managers, NHS staff, and healthcare stakeholders on estates maintenance matters.
Control expenditure and financial commitments within delegated budget limits, monitoring budget pressures and cost risks.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work procedures.
Manage team performance and day-to-day operational activities, ensuring effective service delivery.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Technical management experience within estates, facilities management, engineering, or building services.
Minimum HND in a Building Services subject.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services maintenance.
Understanding of Health & Safety legislation, risk assessment processes, and permit-to-work systems.
Knowledge of financial regulations, KPI reporting, forecasting, works order reporting, and P&L management.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent organisational and numeracy skills, with the ability to understand and assist with budgets.
Mechanical or Electrical qualifications.
Full UK driving licence required for participation in the on-call rota (1 in 4).
