Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Dishwasher to join our busy hospitality team. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are hygienically cleaned and ready for use. The ideal candidate will support the culinary team by providing a clean and efficient workspace, contributing to the smooth running of our restaurant or hotel operations. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff
- Ensure the cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas
- Organise and store clean items appropriately to maintain an efficient workflow
- Support the team during busy periods by helping with serving or other general duties as required
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are adhered to
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation and cooking processes is a plus
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the kitchen setting
