We're looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our housekeeping team at The Stratford — a 145-bedroom design hotel in Stratford, two minutes' walk from Westfield Stratford City and Stratford station (Central, Jubilee, Elizabeth line, DLR and Overground).
You'll lead a small team of room attendants and house porters on shift, check bedrooms and public areas, and work closely with Reception so rooms are ready when guests arrive. You'll report to our Housekeeping Manager.
This role needs hotel housekeeping experience — at least 6 months. If you've got that and you're ready to take on more responsibility, we'd like to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Allocating rooms to the team at the start of shift and checking in with them through the day
- Inspecting departure and stayover rooms so every room is guest-ready
- Keeping an eye on assigned public areas — lobby, corridors, guest lifts
- Talking to Reception about early arrivals, late check-outs, VIPs and special requests
- Showing new starters how we do things and helping the team hit our standards
- Dealing with guest requests and any housekeeping issues on shift, and passing the bigger ones to the Housekeeping Manager
- Logging maintenance faults, lost property and linen stock
- Updating room statuses on the system and sending a short written handover at the end of shift
- Minibar inventory and posting
- Lost & Found
What we're looking for
- Minimum 6 months' experience in hotel housekeeping — floor supervisor, housekeeping assistant manager, room coordinator, team leader or similar. This one is essential; applications without it won't be considered
- Comfortable using a computer for the everyday parts of the job: checking the room list on the PMS, sending and answering emails, keeping a simple spreadsheet or log. If you can use email and find your way around a screen, we'll train you on our systems
- Able to write a clear, polite email or handover note in English
- Comfortable checking work and giving feedback kindly
- A good eye for detail — you notice the smudge on the mirror before the guest does
- Organised, calm and happy on your feet
- Friendly with guests and colleagues
- Our team speaks many languages between us and we help each other out
Hours and pay
- £[13 - 15.31] per hour, paid [monthly / every four weeks]
- [20 -48] hours a week, working days including some weekends and bank holidays
- Shifts are usually [9:00am–5:30pm], with the occasional [late]
- Overtime is [available and paid at your normal rate]
- Rota published [one week] in advance
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays, rising with service
What you'll get
- Free freshly cooked meals on every shift, and your uniform provided and laundered
- Wagestream — draw up to 50% of your pay before payday, plus a savings pot and free financial advice
- Discounted room rates for you, your family and friends at Marriott hotels worldwide, and 50% off food and drink in our own bars and restaurants
- A free overnight stay with a plus one so you can experience the hotel as a guest
- Season ticket loan and Cycle to Work scheme
- Retail and hospitality discounts at Westfield Stratford City
- Full training from day one, Marriott learning academies, and our GROW academy for anyone who wants to move up
