Purpose:
The Health & Safety (H&S) Auditor is responsible for carrying out site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews across construction sites and company operations to ensure adherence with UK health and safety legislation, company procedures, and client requirements. The role supports continuous improvement in safety performance and promotes a positive safety culture throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Auditing & Compliance
· Conduct planned and unannounced health & safety audits across construction sites, depots, and offices.
· Assess compliance with:
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM)
- Working at Height Regulations
- PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and other applicable legislation
· Review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), permits, and site documentation.
· Produce detailed audit reports including findings, non-conformances, observations, and recommendations.
· Monitor and close-out of corrective actions.
Site Inspections & Incident Monitoring
· Carry out routine site safety inspections and behavioural observations.
· Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and procedural breaches.
· Provide practical advice to site teams and subcontractors on compliance improvements.
· Escalate serious safety concerns where immediate action is required.
· Support incident investigations where required.
· Assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
Systems & Standards
· Support maintenance of the company’s integrated management system.
· Assist with ISO management systems including:
- ISO 45001
- ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
Training & Communication
· Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings where required.
· Promote best practice and positive health & safety behaviours.
· Liaise with operational teams, management, clients, and external auditors.

Qualifications Required
- NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred)
- CSCS Card
- Experience within the UK construction industry
Technical Skills
- Familiar with UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised and methodical approach.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to influence and promote best practice.
- Able to prioritise workload accordingly.
NOTE: 1FTE is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You are responsible for planning your diary to ensure site inspections are carried out across the whole of Great Britain (e.g. Portsmouth, London, West Wales, Lincolnshire, Inverness, Belfast etc). Some projects might require 1 audit per month, others could be 2 with some evening work, particularly for one of our High Street Retail Clients who require works done outside of store opening hours but this is occasional. Audits logged on I-Audit (Safety Culture Software) - software training will be provided. You will be required to attend our Head Office in Bradford (BD12 0TQ) on occasions also.
