We are the largest paper sack producer in the UK and one of Europe's leading manufacturers, supplying high-quality packaging solutions to the agriculture, flour, cement, building products, minerals, and food industries.
Due to continued success, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at our manufacturing site near Pocklington, East Yorkshire.
Because this role includes an emergency call-out rota, applicants should live within approximately 20 miles of the site.
Work Hours
This role operates on a rotating 3-week shift pattern, Monday to Friday with a paid 30-minute lunch break.
Week 1: 06:00 - 14:00
Week 2: 14:00 - 22:00
Week 3: 22:00 - 06:00
You will also be required to participate in a call-out rota covering 3 weekends in every 12-week period.
Saturday: 06:00 - 18:00
Sunday: 18:00 - 06:00
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of our production machinery and site facilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to plant and machinery
- Performing planned preventative maintenance activities
- Responding to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Assisting with machinery upgrades, modifications, and new equipment installations
- Maintaining factory buildings and associated infrastructure
- Completing hot work permits and ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely
- Ensuring maintenance work does not create contamination risks within production areas
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and work records
- Adhering to all Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, Hygiene, and Company procedures
- Ensuring waste is correctly segregated and disposed of
- Carrying out maintenance, calibration, and repair activities on the Treatment Plant (full training provided)
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Qualifications in mechanical engineering
- Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and operation of all factory machines
- Good practical mechanical ability; and ability to work under minimum supervision
- Hold a current UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience of production machinery
- Experience of paper converting machines
