A Rare Opportunity to Build a Career in Fire Safety
Opportunities to enter the fire safety industry without previous experience don’t come along often.
At ExempliFire, we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and potential - enthusiastic, hardworking, reliable and genuinely keen to learn - and we’re prepared to invest in your development.
If you enjoy practical work, like solving problems, take pride in doing a job properly and want the opportunity to build a long-term career in a skilled and important industry, this could be a fantastic opportunity.
ExempliFire is looking for a Trainee / Junior Fire Safety Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll receive hands-on training and support while developing the skills needed to install, maintain and repair fire safety systems and equipment for our clients across the South East.
About ExempliFire
ExempliFire provides fire safety solutions to businesses across the South East, helping our clients protect their people, premises and property.
We’re a growing, close-knit team and we care about doing things properly. That means high standards of workmanship, excellent customer service and colleagues who are willing to support one another.
We invest in our people too. For the right person, this role is a rare chance to enter the industry, learn from experienced engineers, develop valuable technical skills and build a career with a business where your contribution genuinely matters.
What You’ll Be Doing
As you train and develop, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with and progressing towards the maintenance, repair and installation of fire safety systems and equipment;
- Travelling to customer sites across the South East;
- Learning how to identify faults, solve problems and complete work safely and to a high standard;
- Following company procedures, technical guidance and industry requirements;
- Providing friendly, professional service to our customers;
- Keeping accurate records of work completed;
- Working independently as your skills and experience grow, while remaining part of a supportive engineering team;
- Participating in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota once appropriately trained.
Who We’re Looking For
Previous fire safety experience is not essential. We can teach you the technical side of the job.
What we can’t teach is attitude - and that’s what matters most to us.
You’ll be someone who:
- Is enthusiastic and genuinely eager to learn;
- Has a strong work ethic and is willing to get stuck in;
- Is reliable, punctual and takes responsibility for their work;
- Can adapt when plans change or an unexpected problem arises;
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work and problem solving;
- Has good attention to detail and can follow defined processes;
- Takes pride in providing a high-quality service;
- Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team;
- Communicates confidently and professionally with customers and colleagues;
- Wants to develop their skills and grow alongside the business; and
- Is based in or around Ipswich.
Essential
- A full, clean manual UK driving licence;
- Willingness to travel throughout the South East as part of the role; and
- Willingness to take part in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
You might already have experience in engineering, maintenance, construction, electrical work or another practical environment - but equally, you may be looking for your first opportunity to build a technical career.
If you have the enthusiasm and commitment, we’d like to hear from you.
What We Offer
- £32,000 starting salary, plus overtime when available;
- 22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays (subject to the requirements of the on-call rota);
- Full training and ongoing development;
- A rare opportunity to enter and build a career in the fire safety industry without needing previous industry experience;
- Support and mentoring from experienced colleagues;
- A branded company vehicle;
- Company uniform, tools and equipment required for the role;
- A friendly, collaborative working environment;
- Regular team-building opportunities;
- Enhanced paternity and maternity pay (eligibility criteria apply); and
- The chance to join a growing business where your development and contribution will be recognised.
Ready to Get Started?
If you’re hardworking, curious and ready to learn, don’t be put off because you haven’t worked in fire safety before.
This is an unusual opportunity to step into a skilled technical career with full training, a strong starting salary and real scope to develop.
We’re interested in your potential as much as your experience.
Please send your CV and a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself, why this opportunity appeals to you and why you think you’d be a great addition to the ExempliFire team to [email protected]
