Café Assistant in Ember Community Hub, Ballinamallard.
About the Role:
Ember community hub is seeking a friendly, reliable, and hardworking Café Assistant to join the team. The successful applicant will support the daily operations of the coffee shop, including assisting with food and beverage preparation, maintaining cleanliness, delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately.
- Assist in the preparation of coffee, tea, smoothies, and light meals (sandwiches, salads, baked goods, etc.).
- Operate coffee machines, blenders, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (training provided as required).
- Ensure all food and drink items are presented to high standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, service area, and dining area (including clearing tables and washing dishes).
- Refill supplies and restock items such as napkins, cutlery, cups, and condiments.
- Handle cash and card transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and comply with food handling procedures.
- Support other team members as needed during busy periods.
- Carry out any other duties as instructed by the Trustees or manager.
Essential Criteria:

1: Experience of working as part of a team.
Coffee shop assistants rarely work alone. Being able to collaborate harmoniously with colleagues is imperative for a productive work environment.
2: Experience in dealing with the public
Customer service is at the heart of the coffee shop assistant’s responsibilities. The assistant must be able to deal with customer queries/complaints professionally and promptly.
3: Experience of working in a busy environment.
Coffee shop assistant will have to multitask and problem solve and have the ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure and show good organisational skills.
4: Flexibility to work occasional evenings if required.
