About JCL Glass
JCL Glass is a leading manufacturer of high-quality insulated glass units. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Shift Supervisor to join our production team and support the efficient operation of our afternoon shift.
The Role
This is a practical leadership position for an experienced glass industry professional with a strong background in glass cutting, IGU assembly, and sealing. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production activities, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the day-to-day performance of the manufacturing team.
The role requires someone who can lead from the front, working alongside colleagues while ensuring production targets, quality requirements, and health and safety standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support production operations during the shift.
- Lead by example through active involvement in manufacturing processes.
- Operate and oversee glass cutting, assembly, and sealing activities.
- Ensure production schedules and targets are met efficiently.
- Monitor product quality and maintain company standards.
- Support and guide production operatives to maximise performance.
- Promote a safe, organised, and productive working environment.
- Assist with problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with management and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience within the glass manufacturing industry.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Glass Cutting
- IGU Assembly
- Primary and Secondary Sealing
- Glass Tempering
- Experience working within a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to motivate and support a team while remaining hands-on in production.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Desirable Experience
- Automated IGU production lines.
- Tempering operations.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes.
