Working Hours: 48 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £14.68 per hour
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator / 360 Material Handler to work in a busy waste management/recycling environment.
The successful candidate must have:
- Experience operating mobile plant in a waste management, recycling or similar industrial environment
- Valid Loading Shovel / 360 Material Rehandler certification
- Good understanding of health and safety in an operational environment
- Ability to inspect incoming waste loads and identify prohibited waste
- Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and fixed plant
- Experience or understanding of working safely within a busy operational/transfer station environment
- Willingness to carry out daily housekeeping and maintain high standards of site cleanliness
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Willingness to complete any training required for the role
- Ability to carry out daily pre-use plant inspections and report defects promptly
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Operating loading shovel and 360 material handler
- Feeding the picking line
- Inspecting incoming waste loads for prohibited waste
- Carrying out daily pre-use inspections of plant
- Reporting plant defects promptly
- Working safely around moving vehicles and fixed plant in line with the site traffic management system
- Assisting with housekeeping and fire prevention activities
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Following the site's environmental permit, company policies and Business Management Systems
- Working safely and contributing to the smooth operation of the site
Person Specification
Essential
- Loading Shovel / 360 Material Rehandler certification
- Previous mobile plant operating experience
- Experience in waste management, recycling or a similar industrial environment
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety
- Able to inspect incoming waste loads
- Able to work safely around moving vehicles and fixed plant
- Able to complete daily plant inspections and report defects
- Team player with a reliable and responsible approach
- Willing to undertake required training
- Willing to carry out housekeeping duties and maintain site cleanliness
Desirable
- Previous experience in a waste transfer station or recycling facility
- Clamp truck licence
- Knowledge of waste acceptance procedures
- Experience loading walking floor trailers
Site Requirements
- Safety shoes with toe protection are required
- The role involves working around moving vehicles, heavy machinery and fixed plant
- Candidates must follow all site health, safety and environmental procedures
