The role
As Laboratory Technician, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding the performance and longevity of critical power generation assets through expert chemical analysis and condition monitoring, whilst delivering a company-wide transformer oil analysis service.
Some of your main accountabilities will include;
- Delivering specialist chemistry condition monitoring to support asset integrity, reliability, and performance across power generation plant.
- Conducting chemical analysis and fault diagnosis on key systems including HRSGs, water treatment, and auxiliary systems.
- Providing transformer oil analytical services across the wider business, interpreting results and identifying emerging asset risks.
- Supporting environmental and regulatory compliance through monitoring activities associated with discharge consent and permit requirements.
- Managing laboratory operations safely and efficiently, including budgets, consumables, equipment maintenance, and compliance with Safe Systems of Work and Safety Rules.
To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;
- A minimum of HND level qualification in chemistry, supported by experience within power or similar process industry.
- Experience working within a Safe System of Work.
- Working knowledge of analytical techniques including gas chromatography, ion chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography.
- Strong understanding of water chemistry and chemical control processes (ideally within a power plant), with the ability to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
- Operational knowledge of plant and its operation with the ability to use diagnostic skills to fault find and provide guidance to the production and maintenance teams.
- Familiarity with the use of complex scientific software such as Chromeleon, Magicnet or Total Chrome and CMMS such as Maximo.
