Deputy Room Leader
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Room Leader to join our Baby Room team.
Our nursery is based in the heart of Hanover and has been established for 35 years. We believe our nursery is more than just an educational setting; it is an additional home where children, families and staff come together to create something very special within our community.
The Deputy Room Leader will work closely with the Room Leader to support the day-to-day running of the Baby Room, ensuring children receive high-quality care, learning and support in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be a positive role model, confident in supporting colleagues and able to take responsibility for the room in the Room Leader's absence.
Duties
- Support the Room Leader with the day-to-day organisation and management of the Baby Room.
- Deputise for the Room Leader when required, ensuring the smooth running of the room.
- Provide warm, responsive and nurturing care that meets each baby's individual needs and routines.
- Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities and experiences.
- Contribute to observations, assessments and children's development records.
- Support and guide colleagues, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Build strong, professional relationships with children, parents and carers.
- Ensure the room is safe, clean, welcoming and well organised.
- Follow nursery policies, safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements and the EYFS.
- Support positive behaviour and emotional development through a calm and consistent approach.
- Contribute to staff meetings, training and reflective practice.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience working in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
- A relevant Early Years or Childcare qualification is highly desirable.
- Experience of supporting colleagues or taking on additional responsibility is advantageous.
- A good understanding of babies' development, care needs and the EYFS.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, caring and nurturing approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support others.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to take initiative.
- A genuine passion for providing high-quality care and learning for babies and young children.
