Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8 Full) - EUSR to oversee and ensure the safety and compliance of our engineering and construction activities. This role requires a professional with extensive technical expertise, particularly in excavation, welding, and electrical systems, to support our projects' successful and safe execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with various tools and machinery, contributing to the maintenance of high safety standards across all operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of excavation sites, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the safe operation of heavy machinery such as excavators, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Perform welding tasks with precision, adhering to technical specifications and safety guidelines.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for maintenance, repairs, and assembly work.
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with equipment or infrastructure components.
- Assist with electrical tasks where applicable, ensuring safe handling of electrical systems and components.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, work performed, and safety checks for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures promptly.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Competent Person within the construction or engineering sectors, specifically holding NSI 6 & 8 Full certifications recognised by EUSR.
- Extensive hands-on experience operating excavators and performing welding tasks.
- Strong familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical systems used in industrial environments.
- Demonstrable electrical experience, including working safely around electrical installations and components.
- Prior exposure to working in high-risk environments with a focus on safety compliance and risk mitigation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to document procedures accurately and efficiently.
