Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safeguarding Lead to champion the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable individuals within our organization. This vital role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safeguarding policies and practices to create a secure environment where everyone can thrive. The Safeguarding Lead will serve as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and fostering a culture of vigilance and care across all activities. Duties
- Develop, review, and implement comprehensive safeguarding policies aligned with current legal requirements and best practices.
- Lead training sessions for staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure understanding of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities.
- Act as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns, disclosures, or incidents, providing guidance on appropriate actions.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential safeguarding vulnerabilities within programs and activities.
- Maintain accurate records of safeguarding cases, actions taken, and follow-up procedures in line with data protection standards.
- Collaborate with external agencies, authorities, and stakeholders to coordinate safeguarding efforts effectively.
- Promote a culture of openness, vigilance, and continuous improvement around safeguarding practices throughout the organization.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children or vulnerable populations in a safeguarding or protective role.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practices relevant to the organization’s context.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
- Leadership qualities that inspire confidence and foster a proactive approach to safeguarding across teams.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations, risk assessments, and report writing with attention to detail.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining confidentiality.
