Capel Grange Residential Home is a 38-bed care home providing 24-hour Residential and Dementia Care. Located just off the main Maidstone Road in Five Oak Green, we are proud to promote a working and living environment that is professional, caring, courteous, and fun.
We are currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team on a full-time basis.
About the role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important part in helping us provide nutritious meals and a positive dining experience for our residents. You will support the cook and kitchen team in the day-to-day running of the kitchen while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and serving of nutritious meals and beverages for residents.
- Support the cook and kitchen team with daily food preparation tasks.
- Ensure all food hygiene and health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment promptly and safely.
- Help receive, check, and store food deliveries correctly.
- Ensure food is stored, labelled, and rotated in line with food safety standards.
- Assist in catering for residents' dietary requirements, allergies, and preferences.
- Serve meals in a friendly and respectful manner, helping to create a positive dining experience.
- Dispose of waste safely and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
- Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety concerns to senior kitchen staff or the manager.
- Work as part of a team to provide excellent support and care for residents.
- Follow company policies, safeguarding procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Support with setting up and clearing dining rooms before and after meal services.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Head Chef or Care Home Manager.
Skills and qualities
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Caring and respectful attitude towards elderly residents.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable but not essential.
