Ready to lead a dynamic hospitality team? Join North Yorkshire Council as a Catering Supervisor and lead the operations of one of our vibrant cafés, restaurants, or leisure and wellness venues. You’ll lead a team, ensure high standards of hygiene and customer service, and make sure every shift runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain high health and safety standards, ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers by following up-to-date hygiene protocols
- Handle cash securely and strictly follow company cash management procedures
- Manage daily operations efficiently to meet and exceed customer expectations
- Keep all areas clean and tidy from the start of the shift through to the end of the day. Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and periodic deep cleans of public areas and equipment
- Set up the café and equipment effectively, arranging furniture to meet customer and layout requirements
- Comply with all regulatory legislation, including Health and Safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations for equipment and chemicals
- Monitor fire hazards and general visitor well-being, acting as the designated Fire Marshall during emergency evacuations
- Maximise sales opportunities by actively promoting all services, while communicating regularly with the Manager
What we are looking for:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is an essential requirement
- Good understanding of Health and Safety and licensing laws for food and alcohol venues, and knowledge of preparing and serving food, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, with a confident and professional approach, and the ability to handle customer feedback and complaints in a positive manner
- Resilient and calm under pressure, with a proven ability to work independently using your own initiative, while actively contributing to a supportive team dynamic
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic to motivate others
- Highly organised multitasker who can successfully balance competing priorities during busy shifts
- Personal License is desirable but not essential
