We’re looking for an experienced carpet fitter to start immediately on a commercial project in Canterbury.

Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare spaces for carpet installation, ensuring accurate fitting according to schematics and client requirements
- Use hand tools, power tools, and carpentry techniques to cut, secure, and finish carpets effectively
- Remove old flooring materials carefully and dispose of debris responsibly
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, or construction plans to ensure proper placement and alignment of carpets
- Apply construction painting techniques as needed for finishing touches or surface preparation
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety standards are maintained throughout the installation process
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to guarantee durability and aesthetic appeal
Skills
- Proven experience in construction or flooring installation with a focus on carpets
- Proficiency with hand tools such as knives, trowels, and measuring tapes
- Knowledge of carpentry principles for precise fitting and finishing work
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, or technical drawings accurately
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques for surface preparation or finishing touches
- Experience operating power tools safely and efficiently in a construction environment
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
