School Cleaner (Part-Time) – Term Time Only
Location: Pewsey, Wiltshire
Pay: £12.85 per hour
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 3:30pm – 8:00pm (22.5 hours per week)
Contract: Part-Time, Permanent, 38 Working Weeks Per Year (Term Time, INSET Days and One Week Summer Deep Clean)
Proposed Start Date: September 2026 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks)
Job Overview
We're looking for a reliable and conscientious School Cleaner to join our friendly team at a small village school near Pewsey.
This permanent, part-time role would suit someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is looking for consistent evening work.
You will be responsible for cleaning the entire school, including classrooms, corridors, offices and washrooms, helping to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
This is primarily a lone working role. The successful applicant will also be responsible for locking and securing the school and setting the intruder alarm at the end of each shift. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean all areas of the school.
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
- Clean washrooms, toilets and classroom sinks.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and touchpoints.
- Empty bins and replenish consumables.
- Use cleaning equipment safely and store it correctly.
- Lock and secure the school and set the intruder alarm at the end of each shift.
- Report maintenance issues, damage, safeguarding concerns or health and safety hazards.

- 3:30pm – 8:00pm
- 22.5 contracted hours per week
- 38 working weeks per year
One week of summer deep cleaning is carried out during the school holidays. Dates and working hours for the 2027 summer deep clean will be confirmed nearer the time.
What We're Looking For
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.

- Happy to take responsibility for securing the school.
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to reliable transport are required due to the rural location.
