Supported Living Services (SLS) provides modern, high-quality supported accommodation and person-centred support to adults across Greater London and the South of England.
We support people with a range of needs, including mental health needs, autism, learning disabilities, complex needs and substance misuse recovery, as well as people progressing from hospital or more restrictive environments towards greater independence.

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Finance Manager to take operational ownership of our Finance Department and ensure strong financial management, reporting, controls and compliance across the organisation.
The Role
This is a hands-on finance management position combining the day-to-day management of the finance function with financial reporting, analysis and support to senior management and the Board.
The Finance Manager will oversee management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, accounts payable and receivable, payroll financial controls, rent and service charge income, care and support income, debt and arrears, reconciliations and year-end processes.
You will play an important role in strengthening financial controls and ensuring SLS has accurate, timely and reliable financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Take day-to-day operational responsibility for the SLS Finance Department and support the effective management of the finance team.
- Prepare accurate management accounts and regular financial reports for senior management and the Board.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
- Produce and analyse profit and loss, balance sheet, cash-flow, debtor, creditor and budget-versus-actual reports.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
- Maintain oversight of rent, service charges, Housing Benefit and relevant Universal Credit housing-related income.
- Oversee financial processes relating to Local Authority, NHS and other commissioned care and support income.
- Work alongside HR and payroll providers to oversee payroll accuracy and financial reconciliations.
- Maintain robust bank, balance-sheet and financial reconciliations.
- Coordinate year-end processes and work effectively with external accountants and auditors.
- Maintain effective financial controls, approval processes and safeguards against fraud or unauthorised transactions.
- Support compliance with relevant HMRC, VAT, Companies House and financial reporting requirements.
- Develop and improve finance policies, procedures, systems and processes.
- Identify financial risks, trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for savings and improved value for money.
- Provide clear financial advice and recommendations to Directors and senior managers.
- Support managers to understand budgets and effectively manage financial performance.
About You
We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a minimum of 3 years' continuous and relevant experience within finance/accounting.
Ideally, you will have experience operating within the housing and/or health and social care sector, although candidates with strong transferable finance experience from other sectors are also encouraged to apply.
You should have strong practical experience across management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, reconciliations and financial controls, with the confidence to take ownership of a varied finance function.
Experience and Skills
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- A minimum of 3 years' continuous and relevant finance/accounting experience.
- Strong practical experience preparing management accounts.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills.
- Experience completing bank and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control.
- Experience implementing and maintaining effective financial controls.
- Experience with payroll financial reconciliation and year-end processes.
- Ability to identify financial discrepancies, risks and areas for improvement.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyse and present financial information effectively.
- Strong experience using accounting systems, including QuickBooks or similar financial software.
- Confidence using modern technology and AI tools to support appropriate, efficient and accurate financial processes.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet financial deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and senior management.
Qualifications
A recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
We particularly welcome candidates who can demonstrate strong practical finance experience and the ability to effectively manage the responsibilities of the role.

- Housing Benefit and Universal Credit housing costs.
- Rent and service charge accounting.
- Local Authority or NHS-funded services.
- Care and support package invoicing.
- Multi-site or regulated organisations.

You will be highly numerate, analytical, organised and exceptionally accurate, with strong professional judgement and integrity.
You should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of financial processes, challenging discrepancies and communicating with Directors, senior managers, external accountants and other stakeholders.
