56 West Smithfield is a cosy wine bar and lounge in the heart of Farringdon, set inside a lovely townhouse close to Smithfield Market and St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
We focus on warm hospitality, quality wines and relaxed, personal service. Our wine list includes award-winning wines from small-scale independent winemakers, including wines from our family vineyard, Château De La Cômbe, in Provence. Guests visit us for glasses of wine, bottles to share, wine flights, private events and wine tasting evenings.

About the Role
We are looking for a full-time Waiter / Waitress to join our team at 56 West Smithfield.
You will be part of a small team responsible for delivering warm, confident and attentive service to our guests. The role includes taking orders, serving wine and food, looking after tables, supporting private events and helping to maintain the welcoming atmosphere of the venue.
You do not need to be a wine expert, but you should be interested in learning about wine, producers, pairings and guest recommendations.
About You
- You are someone who genuinely loves hospitality and wants to grow within the industry. You take pride in looking after guests properly, care about the details, and stay calm and professional during busy service.
- You have experience in a guest-facing hospitality role and understand the importance of timing, communication, teamwork and presentation.
- You have a strong interest in food, wine and guest experience, or a clear willingness to develop this knowledge through training. You are confident speaking with guests, making recommendations and explaining dishes in a natural, accurate and thoughtful way.
Pay and Benefits
- £13 per hour, plus service charge. Typical total earnings are approximately £15 to £16 per hour, depending on service charge levels.
