Through a recent internal promotion and ongoing project work, we find ourselves looking for two Production Planners. We will have available 1 x perm position and 1 x 14-month fixed term position available.
Based at Elm, Wisbech
06.00-16.00 working a 3 on 2 off/ 3 off 2 on pattern ( 7 days from 14) repeating cycle
Purpose of the Role
You’ll take ownership of managing finished goods and raw material orders, making sure everything is in the right place at the right time. The focus is on getting the best from our materials, reducing waste, and keeping our customer service levels high.
Working closely with the manufacturing team, you’ll help create plans that are realistic, efficient, and set the team up for success. You’ll also partner with procurement to ensure raw materials are available when needed and build strong, positive relationships with our suppliers.
What you’ll be doing
Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll get involved in day to day. You’ll have real ownership across planning, working closely with teams across the business to keep everything running smoothly:
- Keeping a close eye on finished goods stock, making sure we hit customer service and OTIF targets while keeping waste to a minimum
- Managing raw material levels so production always has what it needs, without overstocking or waste
- Reviewing customer orders and forecasts, spotting any risks or challenges early, and adjusting plans to keep things on track
- Building short-, medium- and long-term production and labour plans, and keeping an eye on capacity to flag any pinch points
- Planning ahead for key seasonal events such as promotions, product launches and peak periods like Christmas
- Working closely with suppliers on delivery plans and keeping performance on track
- Taking ownership of inbound transport to make sure deliveries arrive as expected
- Analysing raw material yields (daily, weekly and annually), working with operations to understand any issues and suggesting improvements
- Keeping planning systems and data up to date (MRP, MPS, yield tracking and more)
- Setting up new products within planning and the ERP system
- Supporting the NPD team with trials and launches, helping bring new ideas to life
- Supporting the wider planning team by covering duties during holidays or absence
What you'll have:
Qualifications
GCSE levels or above.
Knowledge & experiences
Previous experience working in a produce/ prepared/ chilled food environment would be advantageous
Planning experience would be great, but if not, we can train the right person who brings a great attitude to learning, can multi-task and problem solve!
Skills and attributes
- An eye for detail
- Good level of written and spoken English
- Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word/ Excel/ Outlook)
- Ability to pull together and analyse data from multiple sources.
