Bench Joiner/Machinists

Fir Tree Timber is an independent timber yard located in rural North Scarle, Lincolnshire. We specialise in timber products, sheet materials, fire doors and bespoke joinery. Our parent company, Meeks Projects, is a BM Trada certified manufacturer of firedoors and doorsets. We manufacturer contracts for local and national construction companies. Due to expansion, we are looking for an additional joiner in our workshop.
Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm Saturdays 7:00am - 1:00pm Overtime may be necessary to meet construction deadlines.
Environment: Some work can take place outdoors in all weathers. The role will involve heavy lifting and the use of machinery. Some work is indoors where conditions could be quite dusty. You will use protective equipment on all jobs.
Attributes: You'll need an eye for detail, good maths skills for working out measurements and the ability to follow technical plans. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential. A knowledge of timber and joinery is an advantage, but full training would be given.
The role is varied and includes:
- Cutting and machining timber to precise measurements and calibrations
- Making and assembling the components of firedoors, frames and doorsets
- Organising and fitting ironmongery
- Glazing doors
- Using door schedules, technical plans and drawings
- Loading and unloading deliveries
- Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment
- Changing bags on dust extractors
- Interacting with customers
- Adhering to BM Trada guidance regarding fire door manufacture
- Taking an organised approach to your work and prioritising jobs
- Checking for quality assurance
- Awareness of, and adhering to, health and safety requirements is essential
- Other appropriate duties as directed
Driving Licence – essential
Forklift training - desirable
