About the Role
SHIPLINESUK LTD is looking for a motivated and commercially focused Sales & Operations Executive to join our team.
The primary focus of this position will be Sales and Business Development, generating new customers and developing freight forwarding business in the UK and international markets. The successful candidate will also support freight forwarding operational activities when required.
This is initially a part-time, flexible and remote position, starting with approximately 6–8 hours per week. Working hours may increase based on sales performance, business generated and operational requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
- Identify and approach potential new customers.
- Generate new business for Sea Freight, Air Freight and related logistics services.
- Develop business opportunities in the UK and international markets.
- Make sales calls, send emails and communicate directly with prospective customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Follow up quotations and convert opportunities into confirmed shipments.
- Develop existing accounts and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Work towards agreed sales and profitability targets.
- Maintain regular updates on sales activities, prospects and confirmed business.
Freight Forwarding Operations
Alongside sales responsibilities, you will support operational activities, including:
- Communicating with overseas and local agents regarding freight rates and bookings.
- Arranging bookings with origin agents and haulage providers.
- Coordinating import and export shipments when required.
- Preparing and checking shipping and customs-related documentation.
- Sending required documentation to customs teams and agents.
- Communicating with customers, carriers, hauliers and overseas partners regarding shipment updates.
- Maintaining and updating shipment information in company Excel sheets.
- Supporting urgent and time-sensitive shipments when required.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in Sales, Business Development, Freight Forwarding or Logistics.
- Freight forwarding sales experience is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Sea Freight and/or Air Freight.
- Confident in approaching new customers and developing new business.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage own sales activities.
- Comfortable communicating with customers, carriers and international agents.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and email communication.
- Organised, commercially minded and results-driven.
- Legally eligible to work in the UK.
- Existing freight forwarding customer contacts or an established international logistics network would be an advantage.
Working Arrangement
- Part-time: Initially approximately 6–8 hours per week
