The Technician Trainee role is an entry-level development opportunity designed for individuals with little or no previous experience, including those looking to begin a new career in engineering. The role provides hands-on training and practical experience in supporting BT’s critical network infrastructure across either electronics engineering, radio engineering, or a combination of both disciplines.
Trainees will develop the skills and knowledge required to install, maintain and repair network equipment that underpins broadband, mobile and business communication services. Activities may include working within exchanges, data centres and network sites, installing fibre infrastructure, maintaining communication equipment, troubleshooting faults, and supporting service restoration activities.
Those specialising in radio engineering will contribute to the maintenance and repair of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G radio networks, working across a diverse range of environments, including urban, rural and remote locations. The role may involve working at height and travelling to sites across the UK.
The specific scope of work, training pathway and technical skills developed will vary depending on business requirements and geographic location. Full details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Must be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role i.e. able to bend, stretch, kneel and crouch. Also must be able to climb, work at floor and ceiling level inside buildings, tower structures and road side infrastructure, lift heavy drums/cables and recognise coloured wiring.
Individuals will be required to hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
