Raskelf Group, a leading manufacturer of quality mattresses and products for the leisure industry are looking for a General Operative to join our team at our Heckmondwike site.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious General Operative to join our busy Foam Department. In this varied, hands-on role, you will support our daily mattress manufacturing operations—from foam conversion and assembly through to vehicle loading and site maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Foam Conversion & Cutting: Safely operate machine-driven blades to cut full blocks of foam to specific sizes according to daily production schedules. Perform pre-use safety checks, inspect foam for cracks or defects before cutting, and carry out light maintenance, including blade changes.
- Gluing & Assembly: Retrieve required materials (comfort layers, spring units, or foam slabs) and apply hot melt glue according to product specifications. Inspect spring units and foam for defects prior to assembly, ensure accurate component alignment, and scan completed units into the tracking system.
- FLT & Logistics Support: Safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) to offload incoming supplier vehicles and load baled waste onto outgoing transport.
- Housekeeping & Health & Safety: Maintain clean and hazard-free work areas by clearing away strappings, loose debris, and empty pallets. Ensure strict adherence to company Health & Safety policies, Risk Assessments, and PPE guidelines at all times.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player who is committed to a high standard of work. You must have:
- A valid Counterbalance FLT Licence.
- A strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
- The ability to work efficiently and independently
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
What we offer:
Full time - 38.5 hours per week, 7am till 4pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7am to 1 pm.
£13 per hour
