LEAD STEWARD
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Report directly to the Chief Steward and assist in implementing departmental objectives and daily operational priorities.
- Perform daily inspections of assigned areas to ensure cleaning tasks meet departmental standards and report any deficiencies to the Chief Steward.
- Oversee and participate in the cleaning of assigned work areas, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards are maintained throughout each shift.
• Monitor and complete daily stewarding checklists to ensure all assigned duties are performed in accordance with established procedures. • Provide support for event setups and breakdowns, including equipment handling, station setup, distribution of stewarding supplies, and waste removal.
- Assist with periodic inventory counts and report any discrepancies in kitchen equipment, glassware, silverware, China, and stewarding supplies to the Chief Steward.
- Ensure food stations are properly set up before service and adequately stocked throughout operations.
- Promote safe working practices during daily operations, addressing unsafe behaviors and escalating recurring issues to the Chief Steward.
- Reinforce safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures during shifts and encourage team members to identify and report potential hazards.
- Provide shift-level direction to stewarding staff, assign daily tasks, monitor completion of duties, and communicate performance observations to the Chief Steward.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new and existing team members on daily responsibilities, cleaning procedures, proper chemical usage, and safe equipment handling.
- Support employee development by providing coaching and guidance to team members and assisting the Chief Steward with performance feedback.
- Monitor daily consumption of stewarding supplies, communicate stock requirements, and assist with replenishment requests.
- Support the Chief Steward by monitoring inventory usage and preparing requisition lists for review and ordering.
- Monitor the condition, cleanliness, and proper operation of dishwashing equipment and stewarding machinery, reporting maintenance concerns, equipment malfunctions, and repair needs to the Chief Steward.
- Serve as a point of communication between stewarding staff and the Chief Steward, ensuring operational concerns and departmental priorities are effectively communicated.
- Assist in maintaining efficient stewarding operations during periods of high business volume while supporting overall kitchen and food service objectives.
QUALIFICATION:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high-volume hotel or restaurant environment required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a kitchen steward required.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management practices, including ABC analysis and cycle counting, preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical and logistical reasoning abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and negotiate when necessary.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Salary: US$8.00– US$11.00 per hour + gratuities
