Optimum Heat Ltd is expanding rapidly due to new long-term contract wins and a growing pipeline of work.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Domestic Gas Breakdown Engineer to join our team on a PAYE basis, with an immediate start available.
This role is specifically focused on domestic gas breakdowns, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
You will be attending customers' homes to diagnose and repair boiler and central heating faults, with a strong focus on achieving a first-time fix wherever possible.
We are looking for an engineer who is confident working independently, can accurately diagnose faults and has extensive experience dealing with a wide range of domestic heating systems and boilers.

Technical Support
Although you will be expected to work independently, you will have access to experienced senior engineers and technical support when dealing with complex or unusual faults.
Breakdown-Focused Work
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Domestic boiler breakdowns
- Central heating breakdowns
- Boiler fault finding and diagnostics
- Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis
- Boiler repairs
- Heating system repairs
- Identifying faulty components
- Carrying out repairs and replacing components where required
- Boiler servicing where required
- Ensuring systems are left safe and operational
- Providing a professional service to customers
- Completing digital job reports accurately
First-Time Fix
We place a strong emphasis on first-time fixes.
You should be confident diagnosing faults accurately, carrying the appropriate tools and parts, and completing repairs efficiently wherever possible.
Job Density
We aim to keep our engineers working locally wherever possible, with work generally allocated within an average 30-minute radius of your home.

Requirements
We are looking for a genuinely experienced breakdown engineer who can hit the ground running.
You must have:
- Valid Domestic Gas qualifications, including CCN1 and relevant appliance qualifications such as CENWAT
- Gas Safe Registration
- Proven experience as a Domestic Gas Breakdown Engineer
- Strong boiler fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Extensive experience repairing domestic boilers
- Good understanding of domestic central heating systems
- Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to use digital reporting and job allocation apps
- A strong first-time-fix mindset
- Professional, reliable and punctual approach
- Full UK Clean Driving Licence
Who We're Looking For
This position is suited to an engineer who enjoys breakdown work and problem-solving.
You should be confident walking into a fault, diagnosing the problem efficiently and determining the correct repair without unnecessary parts replacement.
Experience working across a variety of domestic boiler manufacturers and heating systems is highly desirable.
This is a breakdown and repair position — installation experience is not the focus of this role.
