We are a medium sized, growing, specialist powerline contractor delivering overhead line infrastructure and maintenance projects across the UK. Known for our practical approach and strong client relationships, we’re looking to bring in a part-time Quantity Surveyor to support our commercial operations as we continue to expand.
The Role
This is a flexible, part-time role suited to an experienced QS who can take ownership of core commercial functions while working closely with project managers. You’ll play a key role in maintaining financial control across multiple live and upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost management and forecasting across projects
- Preparation and submission of applications for payment
- Subcontractor procurement, management, and payments
- Contract administration
- Variations management and valuation
- Supporting tendering and pricing activities
- Commercial reporting to director
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts
- Commercially astute with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently in a small business environment
- Strong communication skills and practical mindset
Desirable
- Experience in overhead lines, power, or utilities sector (but not necessary)
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence

Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze cost estimates for power line projects.
- Monitor project budgets and control costs throughout project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure financial targets are met.
- Conduct risk assessments related to project costs.
- Prepare contractual documentation and manage procurement processes.
- Provide financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Support project teams with cost-related advice and guidance.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the electrical or power infrastructure industry.
- Strong knowledge of cost control practices and financial management.
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with relevant software tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Relevant professional qualification or certification is preferred.
