Join Nursing Direct’s dedicated paediatric care team offering 1:1 specialist support for a young person with complex health needs in their family home. This role enables meaningful contribution, professional growth, and hands-on clinical care.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality 1:1 care in home and community settings
- Manage PEG-J feeding, medication, and bowel care safely
- Provide tracheostomy care and support BiPAP ventilation (night shifts)
- Assist with moving, handling, and personal care tasks
- Support engagement in family life, education, and social activities
- Monitor comfort, safety, report any changes, and follow care plans
Essential requirements:
- Enhanced Child DBS clearance or willingness to obtain
- Certification or willingness to train in:
- CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Seizure management (face-to-face training)
- PEG-J feeding and management
- Medication administration and bowel care
- Moving and handling
- Willingness to learn specialist areas (e.g. tracheostomy, ventilation)
Preferred experience:
- Supporting young people with dystonia
- Working with individuals using alternative communication methods
Shift pattern:
- Friday & Saturday nights: 12-hour shifts (night, no handover)
- Monday & Wednesday days: 10.5-hour shifts (during education support hours)
