We are seeking a compassionate, engaging and adaptable Home Tutor to support a bright Year 7/8 learner with complex physical needs who is currently unable to attend school.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping a student remain engaged with learning while working towards a gradual reintegration into mainstream education.
Location;
- Home-based tuition in the DN10 area
- Dedicated learning space provided
Hours;
- 10 hours per week
- Preferred schedule: Weekday afternoons (around 1:00pm onwards)
- Sessions will begin gradually and build to approximately 2 hours per day across 5 days per week
- Regular movement and fatigue breaks are essential

About the Learner;
The student is academically able and works at, and in some areas above, age-related expectations. They particularly enjoy:
- Computing and coding
- Minecraft and other technology-based interests
- Reading
- Music
They are polite, respectful, curious and respond well to adults who invest time in building trust and positive relationships.
The learner has a progressive neuromuscular condition affecting mobility, stamina and handwriting, meaning tuition is delivered at home. Writing is completed using a laptop and assistive technology.
They are also awaiting assessments for autism and ADHD and benefit from clear routines, patient communication and structured learning.
The Role;
You will...
- Deliver engaging KS3 lessons in English, Maths and Science.
- Adapt learning to suit physical, communication and processing needs.
- Build confidence and motivation through positive relationships.
- Use assistive technology where appropriate.
- Liaise with school and other professionals to support continuity of learning.
- Work towards EHCP outcomes and contribute to review meetings where required.
The Ideal Tutor Will Have;
- Experience teaching or tutoring KS3 learners.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, medical needs or EHCPs.
- Confidence adapting lessons and breaking learning into manageable steps.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Patience, flexibility and a calm approach.
- An understanding of fatigue management and the importance of regular breaks.
- The ability to deliver engaging, practical and motivating sessions.
