Engineering Training Instructor ‐ Mechanical Maintenance £ 38,600- £ 41,600
Sunderland Engineering Training Association (SETA) is a vibrant and long‐standing Washington based independent specialist training provider. We have an Ofsted ‘Good’ grade across all aspects of our provision. We predominantly serve the North East’s engineering, manufacturing, process and related sectors, helping individuals gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to fulfil their potential.
We are now recruiting for two Engineering Training Instructors to teach Mechanical Maintenance (Mechanical/Fluid Power). The incumbents will report to the Head of Operations and will be a key member of the training delivery team.
The ideal candidates will have significant and relevant industry experience along with experience of delivering skills training programmes, either within the company or through a training provider. We are, however, also keen to speak to suitable candidates without training delivery experience who would like to enter the education and skills sector and are willing to undertake the necessary training.
Role:
- To train, assess, and develop in‐centre engineering apprentices in line with the requirements set out in the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education’s (IfATE) Apprenticeship Standards.
- To deliver training and assessment on a range of adult commercial upskilling and cross-skilling short courses, including those on the ESF funded NE Workforce Skills programme.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high quality technical training (practical and classroom based)
- Help learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) required to complete their training
- Assess learner progression against programme
- Carry out apprentice/employer in‐centre reviews
- Liaise with other members of staff as required to ensure successful delivery of overall training programme
- Comply with internal and external quality management systems
- Provide learners with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
- Take responsibility for the progress and achievement of all learners in your portfolio
- Deliver IAG to support learners’ decision making and high rates of progression
- Assist with the design and development of new training programmes to suit employer requirements
- Proactively promote Seta products and services
- Carry out other duties as required by Seta, from time to time
Qualifications
- L3 (or higher) Engineering skills qualification (probably apprentice trained) – Essential
- L3 (or higher) Technical engineering qualification ‐ Essential
- Assessor award – Essential (Would be required to obtain one within 12 months of commencing)
- L4 (or higher) Teaching qualification – Essential (Would be required to obtain one within 12 months of commencing)
- Clear DBS check – Essential (If no current DBS certificate one will be obtained prior to commencing in post)
Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience working in Industry sector – Essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – Essential
- Strong IT skills (MS Office suite) – Essential
- Ability to work well with people ‐ Essential
- Experience working in Education/Training/Skills sector – Desirable
- Up to date knowledge of engineering skills training agendas and qualifications – Desirable
