Jobrole
We are looking for a creative, compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to join our care home team and enrich the daily lives of our residents.
The successful candidate will plan, coordinate and deliver a varied programme of meaningful, engaging and person-centred activities that promote residents’ wellbeing, independence, social interaction and quality of life. Activities should reflect individual interests, abilities, cultural preferences and life histories, ensuring everyone has opportunities to participate in ways that are meaningful to them.
You will work closely with residents, families, care staff and external organisations to develop an inclusive programme covering social, recreational, physical, cognitive, sensory and therapeutic activities. You will also support special events, celebrations, community engagement and opportunities for residents to maintain connections with the wider community.
The role requires someone who is organised, reliable, approachable and confident working with older people, including those living with dementia or requiring additional support. You will maintain appropriate records of activities and participation and contribute to reviews of residents’ activity preferences and outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver a varied weekly activities programme.
- Develop activities around residents’ individual interests, preferences and abilities.
- Encourage participation while respecting residents’ choices and independence.
- Organise group and one-to-one activities.
- Facilitate reminiscence, arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, sensory and wellbeing activities.
- Support community visits, outings and intergenerational activities where appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues.
- Record participation, feedback and outcomes and contribute to care planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve residents’ engagement and experience.
- Ensure activities are delivered safely and in line with the home's policies and procedures.
What we are looking for:
A caring and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, a genuine interest in improving the lives of older people, and the creativity to develop activities that residents will enjoy and value.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference every day — creating meaningful moments, encouraging friendships and helping residents live active, fulfilling and purposeful lives.
Pay: £12.71-£14.50 per hour
