Ethos Flowers is an independent florist based in Birmingham City Centre, creating beautiful, distinctive and high-quality floral designs for everyday customers, corporate clients, events and special occasions.
We are looking for an experienced professional florist to join our team on a full-time basis.
This is an important role within the business. We are looking for someone who is confident not only in creating beautiful floristry, but also in working directly with customers, choosing flowers, costing and quoting orders, managing stock and helping with the day-to-day running of a busy flower shop.
The Role
You will be responsible for creating high-quality floral designs while providing excellent customer service and supporting the smooth running of the shop.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating beautiful, high-quality bouquets and arrangements
- Designing bespoke flowers for customers according to their requirements, style and budget
- Advising customers on flower choices, colours, varieties and seasonal availability
- Understanding how to select the right flowers and foliage for each design
- Taking customer orders both in person and over the phone
- Preparing accurate quotations for bespoke orders, events, corporate work and larger installations
- Understanding flower costs, labour, materials and margins when pricing work
- Taking responsibility for your own orders from initial enquiry through to completion
- Preparing flowers for weddings, funerals, events and corporate clients
- Conditioning flowers and maintaining excellent flower care standards
- Ordering, receiving and organising flowers and sundries
- Monitoring stock and minimising waste
- Maintaining a clean, organised and beautifully presented shop
- Preparing orders for delivery
- Carrying out flower deliveries and collections
- Assisting with the general day-to-day running of the shop
- Working independently and taking initiative when required
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven professional floristry experience
- Previous experience working in a busy retail flower shop
- Strong knowledge of flowers, foliage and seasonal availability
- Excellent bouquet and arrangement-making skills
- A good understanding of flower mechanics, conditioning and care
- The confidence to work with customers and understand their requirements
- Experience quoting and pricing bespoke floral orders
- A good understanding of costs and profit margins
- Excellent attention to detail
- A creative eye and strong sense of colour, proportion and style
- The ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining quality
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- A professional, reliable and positive attitude
- Full UK driving licence
- Confidence driving a vehicle for deliveries and collections
- The ability to lift and safely transport flower arrangements and stock

You should be confident speaking to customers, making decisions and recommending flowers rather than simply taking instructions.
You will need to be commercially aware and understand that a successful florist needs to balance beautiful design with accurate costing, good margins and excellent customer service.

Hours
Full-time position.
The role will include weekend and occasional seasonal/event work, particularly during busy periods such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas and wedding/event seasons.
Salary
Will be depending on experience and ability.
