Design Room Manager – Floral Design
Location: Newport - East Riding of Yorkshire
Are you an experienced floral designer with the creativity, commercial awareness and leadership skills to inspire a talented design team?
We are looking for a Design Room Manager to lead the development of innovative floral ranges for major retail customers. This is a hands-on creative role combining team leadership, customer presentations, project management and commercial range development.
The role
You will lead and develop the design team, ensuring projects are delivered creatively, consistently and on time. Working closely with Commercial, Buying, suppliers and customers, you will turn new ideas and customer briefs into commercially successful floral ranges.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of designers.
- Setting and maintaining high design standards and effective working processes.
- Managing floral design projects from initial concept through to customer presentation.
- Reviewing and approving design concepts and presentations.
- Attending customer meetings alongside Account Managers to present new ranges and ideas.
- Developing speculative concepts and seasonal ranges.
- Working with Commercial and Buying teams to identify new, promotional and cost-effective products.
- Building strong relationships with flower, sundry and packaging suppliers.
- Managing project priorities, resources and the department’s sample budget.
- Monitoring floral, packaging and consumer trends through competitor reviews and industry events.
- Encouraging creativity, innovation and continuous improvement across the team.
- Ensuring the design room remains organised, professional and customer-ready.
About you
You will be a highly creative and commercially focused floral design professional who can balance innovation with customer requirements, cost and deliverability.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience within floral design and product development.
- Previous experience leading or developing a creative team.
- Excellent people management, communication and organisational skills.
- The confidence to present concepts directly to customers.
- Strong project management and prioritisation skills.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of product costings and margins.
- The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Competence using Microsoft Word, Excel, email and relevant design software.
- A full driving licence and flexibility to travel when required.

Pay: Up to £39,000.00 per year
