Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will support the organisation’s financial operations by managing accounts payable, data entry, and maintaining accurate financial records. Duties
- Process sales and purchase ledgers, including raising rent demands and supplier invoices. tenant account queries promptly and professionally.
- Perform daily and monthly bank, creditor, debtor, and petty cash reconciliations.
- Calculate and prepare accurate financial statements and payments for property owners.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded in a timely manner.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes and reporting requirements.
- Liaise with tenants, landlords, banks, suppliers, and contractors regarding financial matters.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant property management regulations.
- Coordinating with the executive team in producing financial reports and up to date analysis
- Liaise with internal management team to ensure robust operations, identify cost efficiencies and pro-actively ensure rental arrears and wasted costs are reduced
Experience
- Typically 1–3 years' experience in an accounting or administrative role, ideally within the real estate or property management sector.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or active progression towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and data analysis functions.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles and accounting standards, including Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP) and Financial Reporting Standards (FRS).
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ideally someone with VAT return exposure
- Ideally exposure to setting up companies and management of company administration
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with tenants, landlords, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
