We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to oversee the Hoots Afterschool and Holiday Club wraparound childcare programme. This role involves supporting the delivery of high-quality childcare services, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. The successful candidate will assist in managing staff, organising activities, and maintaining excellent communication with parents and carers. A passion for child development and experience in childcare settings are essential to excel in this position.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in the day-to-day running of the afterschool and holiday club, ensuring smooth operations.
Take responsibility of the setting in the managers absence.
Support the planning and delivery of engaging educational and recreational activities tailored to children’s needs and interests.
Supervise children during activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
Lead by example in promoting positive behaviour, good manners, and respectful interactions among children and staff.
Support staff recruitment, training, and development to maintain a motivated team.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and child progress reports.
Foster strong relationships with parents and carers through regular communication regarding children’s progress and wellbeing.
Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies, health & safety regulations, and organisational procedures.
Assist in organising outings or special events during holiday periods.
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality.
Experience
Proven experience working with children within childcare, teaching, nannying or similar settings is highly desirable.
Knowledge of child development principles and safeguarding procedures is essential.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a childcare setting will be beneficial.
A proactive approach with excellent organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Hours
Term Time: 17.5 hours per week
School Holidays: 45 hours per week, leading and supporting the delivery of our busy Holiday Club
For the right candidate, the 17.5-hour term-time role can also be topped up or combined with a position within one of our nurseries, creating a larger contracted role.
Qualifications
Level 3 in Early Years/ Playwork.
