Job Title: Commercial Cleaner – Short Let Properties
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Commercial Cleaner to join our growing team, specialising in the turnover and presentation of short-term rental properties. This role is central to our guest experience: every property must be spotless, welcoming, and ready to the highest standard for each new arrival. You will work across multiple properties, managing your own schedule to ensure fast, reliable turnovers without ever compromising on quality. Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Presentation
- Thoroughly clean and sanitise all areas of each property, including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, and communal spaces.
- Dust, vacuum, mop, and polish all surfaces to a streak-free, immaculate finish — this includes mirrors, glass, taps, hobs, and stainless steel appliances.
- Change and make beds with freshly laundered linen, ensuring a hotel-standard presentation (hospital corners, plumped pillows, neatly folded throws where applicable).
- Clean and sanitise all bathroom fixtures, tiles, and grout, removing limescale and soap residue.
- Empty bins, replace liners, and remove all rubbish and recycling from the property.
- Check for and remove any signs of previous guests (hair, marks, odours, personal items left behind).
- Ensure windows, skirting boards, light switches, and door handles are wiped down and free of dust or fingerprints.
Stock & Presentation Standards
- Restock essential supplies including toiletries, towels, linen, tea/coffee provisions, and cleaning products in line with company guidelines.
- Arrange furnishings, cushions, and decorative items neatly and consistently to match property styling guides where provided.
- Ensure kitchens are fully stocked with clean crockery, cutlery, and cookware, correctly stored.
Maintenance & Reporting
- Conduct a final walkthrough inspection before departure, using a checklist to confirm every area meets standard.
- Promptly report any maintenance issues, damages, or missing items to the management team, with photos where useful.
- Flag low stock levels of consumables in good time to avoid shortages for guest arrivals.
Health, Safety & Organisation
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations when handling cleaning equipment, chemicals, and electrical appliances.
- Store and transport cleaning supplies and equipment safely and in an organised manner.
- Follow COSHH guidelines for the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
Scheduling & Reliability
- Complete all cleaning tasks within designated turnover windows to ensure properties are guest-ready on time, every time.
- Manage time effectively across multiple properties in a single day where required.
- Communicate proactively with management regarding scheduling, delays, or access issues.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning, housekeeping, or janitorial services is essential.
- Exceptional attention to detail with an uncompromising commitment to cleanliness — streaks, smears, or missed spots are not acceptable.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational skills and consistent reliability in meeting deadlines.
- Physical fitness to carry out cleaning duties, including bending, lifting, and manoeuvring equipment and supplies.
- Flexibility to work weekdays as standard; availability for weekend work is a significant advantage.
- A professional, courteous manner when interacting with guests and contractors.
- Own transport preferred, given the need to travel between multiple properties.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices relevant to cleaning and chemical handling.
