A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Production Shift Manager to work in our facility in Severn Beach.
Responsible for overseeing production operations and managing large teams within a food products environment to ensure operational targets, quality standards and production targets are met. The role supports operational improvements, coordinates interdepartmental activities, and delivers technical expertise and guidance to maintain compliance and exceptional performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage daily shift production to meet plan, quality and time targets.
- Organise labour planning, allocation, rotation and line cover to sustain output.
- Deliver labour recovery, output and KPI targets by monitoring OEE and efficiency, maintaining production reporting.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, GMP, hygiene, CCP, H&S and safe systems, participating in H&S forums.
- Manage a workforce covering performance, attendance, holidays and timekeeping.
- Recruit, coach and develop employees, addressing skill gaps through upskilling, briefings and return‑to‑work.
- Coordinate stock and materials with Supply Chain, Planning and Warehouse to meet schedules.
- Monitor machinery effectiveness and escalate faults to Engineering to minimise downtime.
- Conduct quality checks, review paperwork and validate data to assure accuracy.
- Investigate operational and people issues, provide operational guidance within guidelines, and report to support corrective action.
- Lead a positive culture; support problem‑solving, continuous improvement, NPD trials, waste reduction and operational improvements.
Person specification:
- Significant experience of managing shift production and teams to meet production, quality and time targets.
- Significant experience of improving productivity using OEE, efficiency metrics and KPI reporting.
- Demonstrable experience of applying food safety, GMP, CCP and H&S standards to maintain compliance.
- Demonstrable experience of line managing, coaching operators and coordinating with Supply Chain, Engineering and Quality to resolve operational issues.
- Detailed understanding of food safety, GMP, CCP and H&S legislation.
- Understanding of production planning, OEE, efficiency metrics and KPI monitoring and reporting.
- Understanding of labour management, rostering, performance and absence processes.
- Understanding of quality control, documentation and escalation of equipment faults.
- Highly developed skill in leading large shift teams to meet production, quality and time targets.
- Developed skill in labour planning, rostering and resource allocation to sustain output and cover absences.
- Developed skill in monitoring data to drive corrective actions and ensure compliance with food safety and H&S.
The hours for this role are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday between 1.30pm-10.00pm.
