Dental Nurse – Trainee or Qualified
Salary: £14.50–£15 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Overview
Berkshire Dental Suite is looking for a friendly, reliable and motivated Dental Nurse to join our supportive team. We welcome applications from both qualified Dental Nurses and enthusiastic trainees who are keen to develop their skills within a professional clinical environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with our dentists, nurses and reception team to provide excellent patient care while ensuring the practice operates safely and efficiently. We are looking for someone who works well as part of a team, communicates confidently and takes pride in maintaining high clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting dentists during a range of general and specialist dental treatments
- Preparing surgeries, instruments and materials before each appointment
- Supporting patients throughout their visit and helping them feel comfortable and reassured
- Following cross-infection control and decontamination procedures in accordance with HTM 01-05
- Cleaning, sterilising and correctly storing dental instruments
- Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised clinical environment
- Accurately updating confidential patient records using the practice management system
- Completing relevant clinical documentation, including stock checks and daily checks
- Providing patients with clear treatment and aftercare information when instructed by the clinician
- Supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Following all practice policies relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR, health and safety and infection control
Requirements
- Applications are welcome from both trainee and qualified Dental Nurses
- Qualified applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC)
- Trainee applicants should be enrolled, or willing to enrol, on an approved Dental Nursing course
- Previous dental or healthcare experience is required, ideally within a busy dental practice
- Hepatitis B vaccinated, with evidence of vaccination or immunity where available
- Good knowledge of infection prevention and HTM 01-05 procedures
- Able to provide two satisfactory professional or educational references
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Able to remain calm and professional in a busy clinical environment
- Able to work independently when required while contributing positively to the wider team
- Good written and spoken English
- Basic IT skills and the ability to learn dental practice software
- Willingness to complete a DBS check and any required training
- Right to work in the UK
