We are seeking a dynamic, engaging, and inspirational Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Mathematics to apprentices as part of their apprenticeship programmes.
As an experienced and qualified professional, you will play a key role in supporting apprentices to achieve their Functional Skills qualifications alongside their vocational learning. Central to this role is the ability to contextualise Maths within real workplace scenarios, enabling learners to see clear relevance and practical application.
The Role
You will:
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills Mathematics to apprentices across Entry Level 3 to Level 2
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of learners, including those with SEND or additional learning needs
- Apply inclusive teaching strategies in line with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework, ensuring all learners can access, engage with, and progress through their learning
- Use a range of innovative and blended delivery methods, including virtual classrooms and digital resources, to create engaging and accessible learning experiences
- Monitor learner progress, set clear targets, and support apprentices towards timely achievement
- Maintain accurate and compliant records, contributing to quality assurance and performance measures
About You
You will:
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification (desirable)
- Hold Level 2 / GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Have experience delivering Functional Skills to 16–19 learners (E3–L2)
- Demonstrate awareness of inclusive practice, differentiation, and reasonable adjustments
- Ideally hold an assessor qualification and/or experience supporting learners with additional learning support needs
- Be confident in classroom and virtual delivery, with strong behaviour management and learner engagement skills
- Work effectively as part of a small, collaborative team while managing your own workload and administration

- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- A demonstrable track record of learner progress and achievement
- Innovative, adaptable, and learner-centred teaching approach
- Self-motivated, able to work to performance targets and KPIs
- Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and virtual learning platforms
