CleanTech People are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Officer – Financial to join a busy finance and payroll function in Nottingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong attention to detail and experience working with payroll systems, pensions, statutory payments, reconciliations and financial records.
About the Role
The successful candidate will support the administration and maintenance of payroll and pension systems and records, ensuring transactions are accurate, compliant and processed within agreed timescales.
You will work with sensitive payroll and financial information, respond to complex payroll queries and assist with reporting, reconciliations, year-end processes and statutory requirements.
Experience with iTrent would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain payroll and pension systems and records.
Process colleague expenses, statutory payments and absence-related payroll procedures in accordance with current legislation.
Operate payroll control accounts and systems, including net pay and pension accounts.
Ensure payroll transactions and records are complete, accurate and up to date.
Carry out regular reconciliations and investigate and correct discrepancies.
Extract and analyse information from payroll and financial systems.
Prepare returns, reports and supporting documentation as required.
Assist with period-end and year-end payroll procedures.
Produce internal and external documentation within required deadlines.
Contribute to the development of payroll systems, processes and procedure manuals.
Identify areas requiring corrective action and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
Respond to complex payroll-related queries within agreed timescales.
Handle confidential employee and payroll information in accordance with data protection requirements.
Assist with the preparation of statutory and financial accounts and reports.
Support internal and external audit requirements.
Contribute to the development and improvement of financial management processes.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.
Provide cover across other roles within the finance directorate when required.
Maintain accurate manual and computerised records and complete reconciliations within agreed timescales.
About You
We are looking for candidates with:
Previous professional experience in payroll and/or financial administration.
Strong understanding of payroll processes and statutory requirements.
Experience working with payroll and pension systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience completing reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
Good numerical and analytical skills.
Experience extracting and analysing financial or payroll data.
Strong IT and systems skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to deal confidently with complex payroll queries.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
The ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
A good understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience using iTrent.
Experience within a finance, payroll or pensions environment.
Experience preparing statutory returns.
Experience supporting year-end payroll processes.
Experience assisting with financial reporting and audits.
Experience working with housing, public sector or not-for-profit organisations.
Working Arrangements
£15.31 per hour PAYE
35 hours per week
52-week temporary contract

Hybrid working – 3 days remote and 2 days in the Nottingham office
