We are working with a leading engineering business that is looking for an experienced CNC professional to join their team at their facility in the south side of Glasgow.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys technically challenging machining, takes pride in producing high-quality work and wants the opportunity to develop their skills further.
The Role
You will be responsible for setting, programming and operating CNC machinery to manufacture complex, precision-engineered components.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and operating CNC horizontal boring machines using Heidenhain 530i controls
- CNC milling using Heidenhain 530i controls
- Writing, editing and developing CNC programmes
- Estimating machining times and planning efficient machining processes
- Machining specialist oil & gas threads, including PMJ, PTJ, FCJ, F2J and STUB ACME
- Working with challenging materials including stainless steel, brass, copper, Inconel and copper tungsten
- Producing components to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards
- Machining components weighing up to approximately 300kg
- Carrying out your own inspection and quality checks
About You
- Previous experience in a precision CNC machining environment
- Strong CNC setting and operating experience
- Experience with Heidenhain 530i controls
- Fanuc experience will also be considered particularly if you have a strong CNC setting, operating and programming background
- Proven CNC programming experience
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with process planning and machining-time estimation
- Experience working with difficult or specialist materials
- Knowledge of specialist oil & gas engineering threads would be highly advantageous
- Confidence using inspection and precision measuring equipment
