Job Summary
We are a newly establised Mobile Dental Therapy practice, serving Salisbury and surrounding areas.
We are looking to recruite 1 or more part-time or free lance dental nurses as we build our patient list, with a view to becoming a permanent member of the team.
This role is wide open to RDN's who enjoy their role and want to expand their duties and Scope of Practice. This position is for those who would like to work in a dynamic mobile practice where we provide dental appointments to patients in their own homes, care facilities, workplaces, etc. We have a dedicated van and decon facilities hub.
Eventually, we would like to operate some 08:00 - 20:00 working days that can be shared between 2 teams, one on 08:00 - 14:00, the other team on 14:00 - 20:00, to facilitate working dental professionals who have family responsibilities and would benefit from a shorter working day, or would prefer to complete a 12hour shift in one day. We are keen to offer a flexible working schedule, and require flexibility in return.
Responsibilities
- Assist dental hygienist/therapist during various dental procedures by preparing instruments and materials.
- Maintain high standards of infection control and sterilization of dental tools and equipment
- Manage patient records accurately using IT systems, including appointment scheduling and treatment notes.
- Support patients with their queries, explaining procedures and post-treatment care in a friendly manner
- Organise the clinical environment to ensure all equipment and supplies are readily available and properly stored, including setting up/closing down the van at the start/end of each session.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations and uphold excellent patient care standards
- Maintaining CPD and be open to training in extended duties and maximising your role and responsibilities as a RDN.
Requirements
- Flexibility with working patterns, as we have just opened and our days are building.
- Happy with a self-employed or zero-hours contract for the first 6 months, before reviewing permanent contact opportunities.
- Ability to work on the road, rather than a fixed dental practice, by visiting patients at their own location.
- Proven experience in patient care within a healthcare or dental setting is preferred
- Strong communication skills in English to effectively interact with patients and team members
- Knowledge of nursing principles, infection control protocols, and sterilisation procedures
- Proficiency in IT systems for record-keeping, appointment management, and documentation
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Ability to work as part of a team while demonstrating initiative and professionalism
- A positive attitude with a genuine desire to support patient well-being and team success
- Keeness to deliver workshops on oral health, should you wish to expand your role.
- Keeness to undertake Fluoride application and OHE training.
- Confidence in taking on Social Media reponsibilities.
