The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have an opportunity to be part of this in the role of Participation and Transition Officer.
Under Part 1 of Education and Skills Act 2008, young people aged 16 and 17 are under a duty to continue in education or training until their 18th birthday – this is called Raising the Participation Age (RPA). As per this statutory duty, you will carry out daily tracking and monitoring of the 16-18 cohort.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced officer to provide information, advice and guidance (IAG) to young people aged 16-18 in Doncaster who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). The suitable candidate will hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in IAG, to be able to track and monitor the destinations of all Doncaster young people aged 16-18 (up to age 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), maintaining accuracy of client records and ensuring that legal regulations are adhered to in line with statutory guidance.
The post holder will need to provide IAG, helping to raise the aspirations of those who are NEET, removing barriers to learning and providing a smooth transition into education, employment or training. This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated, experienced and supportive team, who are determined to achieve positive outcomes with Doncaster young people.
We value a range of experiences and skills. If you have transferable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.
In return for your contribution, we offer:
-
Competitive leave entitlement
- Generous local government pension scheme
- Wellbeing support and staff networks
- Development and training opportunities
- Staff discounts and benefits schemes
- More information on benefits can be found in the attached benefits booklet.
Please review the job summary and profile and demonstrate in your application how you meet the required criteria.
Shortlisting will take place on the 16th July 2026 and interviews are anticipated on the 23rd July 2026.
