Our Production team works closely with Technical, Warehouse, Print and Scenic to take projects from the initial client brief through to successful onsite delivery.
The Role
We are looking for an organised, proactive and practical Assistant Production Manager to support the planning and delivery of STORM events.
Working alongside our Production Managers, you will help coordinate projects from initial brief through to event delivery and final reconciliation. You will be involved in production planning, crew and equipment coordination, supplier management, logistics, event documentation and onsite delivery.
This is a hands-on role for someone with experience in live events who is ready to take on more responsibility and develop towards becoming a Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning
- Support Production Managers with the planning and delivery of live events.
- Help turn client briefs into clear production plans, schedules and action lists.
- Prepare production schedules, crew information, contact sheets and event documentation.
- Attend internal, client and venue meetings, recording and following up agreed actions.
- Coordinate venue access, event timings, deliveries, collections and onsite requirements.
- Keep project information accurate and ensure updates are communicated to the wider team.
Crew, Equipment and Suppliers
- Work with STORM’s Technical, Warehouse, Print and Scenic teams to ensure projects are properly prepared.
- Help coordinate equipment, crew, transport, accommodation and external suppliers.
- Liaise with venues, freelancers and suppliers to confirm requirements and timings.
- Request supplier quotations and support the purchasing process.
- Identify gaps, clashes or potential risks early and raise them with the Production Manager.
Onsite Delivery
- Support event builds, live delivery and breakdowns.
- Help manage crew, suppliers, schedules and client requests onsite.
- Take responsibility for specific areas of an event as required.
- Remain calm and solutions-focused when plans change.
- Represent STORM professionally with clients, venues, suppliers and crew.
Project Administration and Costs
- Support the preparation and updating of project budgets and quotations.
- Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate project records.
- Track additional costs, project changes and supplier commitments.
- Assist with project reconciliation and supplier invoice checking.
- Help ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within the agreed budget.
Health and Safety
- Assist with risk assessments, method statements and event safety documentation.
- Ensure crew and suppliers follow STORM and venue health and safety procedures.
- Raise any safety concerns promptly and support safe working practices onsite.
About You
You will:
- Have experience in live events, technical production or event operations.
- Be highly organised and comfortable managing several priorities at once.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
- Take ownership of actions and follow tasks through to completion.
- Remain calm, practical and positive under pressure.
- Have strong attention to detail and an understanding of deadlines and budgets.
- Be comfortable working both in the office and onsite.
- Be willing to travel and work evenings or weekends when required by the event schedule.
Experience or knowledge of audio, lighting, video, staging or scenic production would be an advantage. A full UK driving licence is desirable.
Progression
This role offers a clear development path into a Production Manager position. As your experience and confidence develop, you will take responsibility for smaller projects and increasingly manage events independently.
