The Role
To provide a high standard of care to a wide patient group of all ages, ethnic background and clinical condition during radiological imaging procedures which include, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound and plain film examination,.
To assist radiology staff in producing high quality images in all imaging modalities, ensuring the provision of high quality, patient centred care, ensuring an effective and efficient flow of patients throughout the department and hospital
In this key role, you will:
To care for every patients’ needs, and to look after his or her welfare.
Initial basic assessment of patient physical capabilities e.g. patient’s ability to undress.
Responsible for providing basic information to patients.
To input patient data on Radiology information system.
To assist Radiographers, Radiologists and Nurses with patient during radiology examinations.
Undertake Blood glucose testing as directed.
Prior to the patients MRI examination appointment check the completion of the patient safety form with the patient via telephone and refer any issues to the radiographer.
The post holder organises patients for Barium, CT, Ultrasound and MRI lists. This involves preparation of the patient for their examination according to departmental protocols which the post holder must be fully aware of. E.g. :- Full bladder or patient being fasted for ultrasound, fasting, full bladder or gastrograffin for CT and patient’s checklist and removal of metal foreign objects for MRI and bone density procedures.
What You'll Bring:
SVQ III in Healthcare Support - Clinical (incorporating modules on radiographic images) or working towards or equivalent radiography experience.
Or
SVQ III in Healthcare Support - Clinical or working towards or equivalent experience working within a clinical healthcare environment/role.
Or
Postholders with no previous radiography experience will be treated in accordance with Annex U Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees 75% of the maximum of the salary scale.
Initial induction period of up to 3 months followed by a period of training and consolidation to achieve full competency across a range of specialties within 12 months.
Ability to work unsupervised
Ability to take direction and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Effective communication skills; oral and written.
Ability to plan and organise own workload.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Effective computer skills.
