Rutledge Recruitment is currently seeking a Building Supervisor (with No Supervision) for our client in the Coleraine area.
This is a temporary-to-permanent position responsible for the day-to-day security, cleaning, maintenance, porterage and general upkeep of the premises. The successful candidate will work independently to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, clean and fully operational.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday
- 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
- 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
20 hours per week / 4 hours per day
Pay Rate:
£14.99 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Open and close the premises and grounds
- Maintain the security of the building and its contents
- Manage keys and operate security, fire alarm and building security systems
- Respond to security issues, break-ins and vandalism when required
- Report suspicious activity, security breaches and building defects
- Apply grit/salt to pathways and entrances during periods of snow and frost
- Monitor heating, lighting and other building services
- Monitor and record fuel, water and electricity usage
- Carry out routine checks of firefighting equipment and report defects
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the premises
- Empty bins and maintain external areas, paths and grounds
- Replenish toilet and cleaning supplies
- Deal with spillages, flooding, litter and other cleaning requirements
- Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are stored safely and maintained appropriately
- Receive and distribute deliveries, stores and materials
- Assist with setting up rooms and areas for various activities and events
- Transport refuse bins to collection points
- Complete relevant paperwork, reports and stock records
- Monitor building defects and arrange authorised contractors when required
- Carry out general handyperson duties within your level of competence
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety and COSHH requirements
Requirements / Desirable Skills:
- Minimum of 6 months' demonstrable experience as a Building Supervisor, Assistant Building Supervisor, Caretaker, Cleaner or similar role
- Experience working independently within a commercial or managed premises environment
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- Knowledge of manual handling procedures
- Experience using security systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good administrative, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and make effective decisions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
- Good attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility
- Must be willing to respond to call-outs at short notice, including unsociable hours, when required
- Must be comfortable carrying out key-holding responsibilities
Desirable:
- NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification or equivalent
- Experience using industrial cleaning equipment
- Previous key-holding experience, including opening and closing premises and setting alarm systems
- Experience carrying out general maintenance or handyperson duties
